Bryan Krull has been a history teacher for the past eight years at the high school and college level. He earned his Ph.D from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, as well as degrees from the University at Buffalo and the University at Albany (NY). He currently lives in Akron, New York. Lil’ Choo-Choo Johnson, Bluesman is his first novel.

Bryan’s first memory of blues music is the Muddy Waters cassette his father kept in the family car. He became a blues fan through rock music. Through Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, The Allman Brothers, and George Thorogood, he discovered John Lee Hooker and Muddy Waters. Through Muddy and John Lee Hooker, he discovered Howlin’ Wolf, Robert Johnson, and Charley Patton. He’s still discovering the blues today.

While Lil’ Choo-Choo grew up in a fertile area for music, Bryan grew up in a fertile area for history, Virginia. He developed a love of history, and became a social studies teacher. He has been informally researching blues history for years, and more intensely before and during the writing of Lil’ Choo-Choo Johnson, Bluesman. He is currently at work on a children's book, and a novel about working at the Memorial Union in Madison, Wisconsin.
