What’s Bryan Working on Now?

•  Bryan’s most important projects right now are his young children, who are two, and five months.

*  Bryan and his brother Todd are working on a children's book about an orange traffic cone. We have developed the idea, and Todd is now busy on the artwork for the book.

•  Bryan is currently working on a novel loosely based on his experiences in food service. Each of the three sections of the book encapsulates one day in the life of its main character, Ben Kowalski. The first section deals with one day in the summer after Ben graduates from high school, as he works at Arby's and ponders his future at college. The second section, titled "Brat Stand Blues," is based on the author’s time as a graduate student, working at the student Union at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. It chronicles a summer day on the Union Terrace for its protagonist, who serves brats (as in bratwurst) and beer, works and plays with the wild bunch of Union employees, and ponders his past, present, and future. The third section has Ben returning to food service part-time at a Might Taco franchise as a 40 year-old father and husband.

*  Bryan is working on a project close to his heart, a series of essays on life lessons from 1980s movies.
